Hey all:

I have a 1994 yamaha vxr waverunner which is either a 650 or a 701 cc not sure yet only had it 4 days. I took it out yesterday and it ran great for 3 hours. About 5 mins into the 3rd hour I gave it gas to ride again and the propeller sounded like it was slipping and wouldnt go fast at all, maybe about 25 mph full throttle. I stopped it restarted it 3 or 4 times and after about 5 mins it went back to normal 40-45mph. It isnt the carb as it didnt bog out. The propeller noise sounded like it was straining or slipping as if I was giving it full gas and it acted like it was straining to go fast. Is my propeller going bad. Do they have some rubber bushing on it that may be slipping? Why is it doing this after 3 hours and then went back to normal?

I also have a standup 650sx kawasaki I am selling for $1375 :)

Thanks for help

It almost sounds like you may have sucked up something and it finally passed through the pump . I would check the under side of the pump while on a trailer and see if there is any visible damage. Are you running it in salt water?

Yea I am in salt water. Someone else told me the same thing. But I thought the intake grate would not allow things to get caught in there? I am hoping that it was a piece of plastic or something that finally came out. :) Thanks for reply. Should I look in the intake grate area or inside the propeller housing. I had a kawasaki 550 10 years ago that did the same exact thing once in a while

Yes i would look in the intake grate area . if it is clean and does it again you may be having issues with the pump liner swelling . I sucked up a big gob of fishing line in a no wake zone once my ski would rev and barley move .
