Well we decided to take the skies out one last time before putting them up for hibernation and disaster struck . Every thing was fine then Not even 10 minuets in to the ride My ski let out a massive back fire in the engine compartment cosing the hood to be blown off the ski right in to my face . Id say i was doing around 20 mph less then half throttle . Normally we ride these skies pretty hard and you expect things to brake but this time was different we were just travailing across the lake where the water is smoother . Any way the ski sank all the way to the tray instantly. luckily I was with anther jp member who brought his boat so we were able to to tow the ski to shore . My ski has 2, 800 gph bilge pumps so we were able to pump the ski out in just a few minutes . Once we got it to shore we flipped the ski up side down with no spark plugs in it and drained the lake out of the engine . So far I have not been able to get the ski to run very good the cylinder closest to the fly wheel is belching out fuel seams like it is pushing up and out of the carb instead of down it. I plan to pull the motor apart tomorrow right now its soaking in wd40 . I am sure glad I did not have hood straps I was very lucky to only have a few scratches on my nose and four head from the hood as for the ski i may have lost the motor gained some scratches & bent hood hinges. looks like ill have plenty to work on this winter.
